Chicago hip-hop duo The Cool Kids headline free community music festival at scenic Grandview Park featuring local Pittsburgh hip-hop artists, with proceeds benefiting The Brashear Kids.
Pittsburgh, PA July 12, 2017 – Work Hard Pittsburgh presents Hilltopolis, a donation-based music festival backdropped by unforgettable views from Allentown’s Grandview Park.
Free to the public, Hilltopolis will solicit donations to benefit The Brashear Kids, an Allentown-based learning and engagement center that provides academic support and educational enrichment for children in poverty.
Headlining will be Chicago hip-hop act The Cool Kids. The recently reunited duo of
Chuck Inglish and Sir Michael Rocks first drew attention in the late 2000’s with a string of successful mixtapes before releasing their critically-acclaimed EP, The Bake Sale (XL Recordings) in 2008, followed by cult classic album When Fish Ride Bicycles in 2011. The pair are currently in the studio finishing Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe, their first new album in six years.
Opening for The Cool Kids will be PK Delay and Pet Zebra, groundbreaking artists in Pittsburgh’s next class of homegrown hip-hop talent. Pk just debuted his new track, “Washed” in Elevator, who called it “an unforgettable, vibrant cut.”
Hilltopolis showcases the completed projects of Give Camp, an annual hackathon where members of Pittsburgh’s tech community build websites and applications for nonprofits in need. To date, Give Camp has completed over 40 projects for the region’s nonprofits, producing an in-kind value of over $500,000 dollars of savings.
Creatives Drink will host a happy hour during the Give Camp showcase as well as the post-event after party at the nearby RE360 Warehouse. Started by Chancellor Humphrey and Cody Baker, the quarterly networking event has quickly become Pittsburgh’s most anticipated gathering for creatives. Hundreds of Pittsburgh’s up-and-coming artists, designers, and innovators have taken over venues like the Ace Hotel, August Wilson Center and CMOA for hours of great drinks and conversations.
Hilltopolis is a community event that will see participation from Hilltop businesses and nonprofits. Scheduled organizations to appear include the Allentown Community Development Corporation, Hilltop Alliance, Brashear Kids, Black Forge Coffee House, Epicast, Meta Mesh and many other.
Hilltopolis will take place at Grandview Park, Bailey Ave., Pittsburgh. Severe weather backup location is the RE360 warehouse at 829 Industry St, Pittsburgh, PA 15210
Admission is strictly on a pay-what-you-can basis. VIP admission is available and will include catering and amenities. Proceeds from VIP sales also go to The Brashear Kids.
